Program Details

The philosophy of Talbot Lacrosse Association is to support, develop, promote and administer the game of lacrosse in the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play.  This is particularly important with our younger players.

We will continue to focus on the fundamentals of the game – ground balls; catching and throwing (with dominant and off hand) and dodging.  We will stress the importance of performing skills properly.  We will assign positions after we have had a chance to access the boy’s skills and interests.

In the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play that is part of the philosophy of Talbot Lacrosse Association, we ask that players and parents help us by remembering to exhibit respect for the rules, opponents, officials, coaches and teammates.

Practices will be at North Easton Park (NEP) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:00 pm (or until dark) and Saturdays 11:00-am – 1:00pm.  The address is 1078 N. Washington St. in Easton and we will be practicing on Pyle (middle) field. Our first practice will be on Saturday February 29th 11:00am – 1:00pm.

You should arrive at least 15 minutes before the practice start time to get their gear on so that practice can start on time.  It is important that your player is on the field, dressed and ready to begin practice at 5:30 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Games will be played from March 28th to May 16th (no games on Easter weekend) and more details on the game schedule will be provided once they are finalized by Talbot Lacrosse Association and the Eastern Shore Youth Lacrosse Association.

Please check Team News on the Talbot Lacrosse Association website (www.talbotlacrosse.org) for any changes to practice or game times.

The standard equipment includes stick, helmet, mouth guard (that attaches to the helmet), gloves, arm pads, and shoulder pads.  You are responsible for providing a stick and mouth guard.  During the first few practices, we may recommend cutting the shaft on your player’s stick to the appropriate length.

Helmet, gloves, arm pads and shoulder pads are available for rent from Talbot Lacrosse and will be distributed at Easton Cycle and Sport.  There is a $40 non-refundable rental fee plus a $150 refundable deposit. Both checks must be made out to Talbot Lacrosse Association. The deposit will only be cashed if you do not return the equipment at the end of the season. Equipment is available for rent starting on Monday, February 24th (9:00am – 5:30pm).

The Talbot Lacrosse Uniform distribution is schedule for Tuesday, March 24th (3:00pm – 7:00pm) at the Easton Volunteer Fire House.

The following is also recommended:

  • Water bottle – all players must bring water to all practices and games – extended straws or squirt bottles are the best so your son doesn’t have to remove his helmet to drink.
  • Weather appropriate athletic apparel
  • Cleats
  • Extra stick/head
  • Extra Balls – Please bring three (3) balls to donate to the team at the first practice.  We are given an allotment of balls each year and they vanish quickly especially as the grass grows in the spring.

We will practice and play games unless there is significant rain, lightning or cold temperatures. If games or practices are cancelled or postponed, it will be posted on the web site, email and text out as soon as it is determined.

Most of our communication will be done through the TLA web site (www.talbotlacrosse.org) and will be distributed to you via text and email. We will update the information weekly so please check Team News frequently. In addition, the web site has information on the following:

  • Game schedules
  • Cancelations
  • Information about the Bull Roast and other TLA happenings

Parent Volunteers

We are always looking for volunteers to help during the lacrosse season – no lacrosse experience necessary!  Most importantly, we always need help lining the fields weekly.  Please let us know if you are interested in helping in any way.

Sponsorship Opportunities

Registration fees alone do not cover all the expenses associated with the successfully running of the Talbot Lacrosse program. The Board of Talbot Lacrosse is looking for community sponsors. If you know of a company or individual that can help support our program, please let us know. Your support of Talbot Lacrosse is greatly appreciated.
